Positively impacting the global wellness community, the Susie Ellis Scholarship for Equity in Wellness aims to create more inclusivity at the annual Global Wellness Summit by providing financial assistance to members of an underserved population to join the conference each year. The insights and connections gained at the Summit empower recipients to return to their local communities and become leaders in the wellness industry. On the next The Dr. Is INclusive webinar, host Nicola Finley, MD, talks with four scholarship recipients who were selected to attend the Global Wellness Summit in 2022 and 2023, all working in the wellness industry and representing different underserved communities. Join Dr. Finley as she has a conversation with scholarship recipients Demetria Bolden, Jonathan Imperial, Stella Vidal and Theodora WarriorHealy. You’ll learn more about their background, experience at the Global Wellness Summit and how it has impacted their current work.
Demetria M. Bolden, PhD, MBA
Demetria M. Bolden is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus.. She is a communication scientist, dissemination and implementation (D&I) researcher, racial disparities researcher, and serves as a catalyst for organizational healthcare innovation development. Her research addresses racial disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes, chronic disease self-management, and the application of mixed methods in designing pragmatic trials. Additionally, Dr. Bolden is a transformational communication coach that focuses on communication obstacles which often stifle business growth.
Jonathan Imperial
Jonathan Imperial has spent over 20 years working in the Nonprofit and Government sectors as an Executive Leader at institutions like the City of Houston, YMCA of Greater New York, and the City of New York. Currently as a Senior Advisor for the City of New York at the Queens Borough Presidents Office, Jonathan leads initiatives in wellness, technology, and LGBTQ+ policy to help our most vulnerable and underserved communities including Queensbridge Houses, our country’s largest affordable housing project.
Stella Vidal
Stella Vidal, a resilient Latina psychotherapist, holistic wellness coach, and artist, founded the award-winning equity and inclusion-focused mental health and wellness practice, Self-Love Harbor in Miami. With her holistic approach, she guides individuals on a transformative journey towards self-love and healing. Stella’s unwavering commitment to empowering others is showcased in her critically acclaimed book, “7 Intentions to a Happier You.” Through her multifaceted talents and cultural background, she inspires individuals to embrace their true selves and live a life of fulfillment.
Theodora Warrior-Healy
Theodora Warrior-Healy is a proud member of the Piikani Nation of the Blackfoot Confederacy from the southern part of Alberta, Canada. The youngest daughter of a Federal Indian Residential school survivor and a survivor of Day School, herself. Theodora Warrior Healy creates a new path for her people with Warrior Moccasins-Indigenous Financial Literacy & Wellness. Delivered to her Indigenous audience with passion and a dedication to financial empowerment, education and direction to achieve her vision of financial wellness teams for every tribe and nation.
About Dr. Nicola Finley
Nicola Finley, MD is a board certified physician in internal medicine and fellowship trained in integrative medicine. She is a faculty member at Northwest Healthcare residency program where she teaches the next generation of physicians. Also, Dr. Finley runs a boutique consulting business which is focused on creating wellness initiatives for organizations. Previously, she practiced integrative medicine at Canyon Ranch with an emphasis on prevention and wellness as well as delivered health care for the medically underserved communities.
