2021 Global Wellness Trends: Mid-Year Update Available Today
Because 2021 isn’t a typical year, the Global Wellness Summit has tapped its trends experts to explore how the nine trends featured in “The Future of Wellness 2021” are playing out in real life — and taking new directions
Miami, FL – June 23, 2021 – In January, the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) released its in-depth forecast of what the top wellness trends will be in the coming year: from Hollywood jumping into wellness to the rise of spiritual architecture/design to adding “more color to wellness” to a new future for immune health—that stops “boosting” and starts balancing. To keep pace with the ever-evolving world of wellness in 2021, GWS has, for the first time ever, issued a mid-year update.
2021 has not, obviously, been a ‘normal’ year. It began in the darkest global lockdown, but now the world – and the “wellness world” – are opening up. And the indications that wellness has become a dramatically more important consumer value globally are everywhere—from global consumer research to an on-fire investment space.
However, what kinds of “wellness” people are seeking and how they consume it is changing rapidly. GWS felt that it was important to ask our trends experts what they’re seeing now. Which trends have new momentum, and what are some new directions in the travel, immunity, digital wellness, home and built environment, healthcare-meets-wellness, financial wellness, meetings and events, and mental wellness spaces? From how “microbiomes” have moved to the very center of wellness to innovations in the breathwork space to whether or not wellness has really made meaningful strides in building a more inclusive industry for people of color.
The mid-year update includes the full original text of all nine of the 2021 Global Wellness Trends with an additional write-up from each author about what’s happening now and what changes might be afoot, as well as a sampling of how the trends are being covered in global media outlets like the New York Times, The Guardian, Forbes, Scientific American, the Wall Street Journal and more.
