New Trends + Research Released
At the Global Wellness News™ media event in New York City, two major global wellness reports were released: the highly anticipated annual global wellness trends report The Future of Wellness 2022 from the Global Wellness Summit (GWS), and The Global Wellness Economy: Country Rankings report from the Global Wellness Institute (GWI). Co-anchored by Nancy Davis and Susie Ellis, the broadcast featured trends authors and research fellows who presented their findings, taking questions from leading media.

Every year, the GWS releases its annual wellness trends report, illustrating the new directions in wellness that the organization believes will have the most meaningful impact on the industry and people worldwide. In this 110-page in-depth report, experts identify 10 wellness trends: from a new soil-focused and survivalist wellness—to the men’s body image crisis and women’s health research gap finally getting addressed—to the rise of the wellness metaverse, certified wellness coaches, urban wellness playgrounds, and healthier senior living models.

GWI Ranks 150 Countries by Wellness Market Size
The nonprofit GWI released today The Global Wellness Economy: Country Rankings report, the first research to measure the wellness economies of 150 nations. It’s packed with information on national wellness markets from average wellness spend per capita to the wellness market’s contribution to each nation’s overall economy. The US ($1.2 trillion), China ($683 billion) and Japan ($304 billion) are the world’s largest wellness economies; Switzerland, Iceland and the US rank first for wellness spending per capita–where consumers spend over $3,600 a year.

BBC Call for Stories – Deadline February 25
Simon Shelley, Vice President Programme Partnerships at BBC StoryWorks, joined the broadcast today to share more information about the stories they are seeking to produce a first-of-its-kind film series about the world of wellness in collaboration with GWI. Simon said, “BBC StoryWorks is thrilled to be exploring the true meaning of wellness through human-centric stories of those seeking holistic health for both themselves and the wider society. We hope to bring a new comprehension of wellness to our global audiences, and start a deeper conversation about integrated, personalized health.
